Dear Members,
As we prepare to return to golf next Monday, clubs across Donegal will be under the microscope. Our golfing unions have negotiated with the Government an early return to our sport and have provided us with protocols that allow safe return to play. Most of you will be familiar with these protocols by now which are summarised in the following video: https://www.golfnet.ie/news/golfnet/4668/video-stay-safe-on-the-golf-course As Club officials we will be expected to ensure the GUI / ILGU protocols are in place and observed by members. For those members aged over 70 who are cocooning, the Government advises that you do not return to golf. However Government also recognises that this is advisory, not mandatory and individuals can make their own decisions. Finally, we wish to take this opportunity to remind you of the Government’s travel restriction. Until 8th June, members residing outside the 5km limit should not travel to play. Whilst the Club cannot enforce this restriction it is important that members consider it prior to travelling to the course. We are minded of the many families throughout Donegal who have been profoundly affected by Covid 19, the vast majority of whom are non-golfers. Our course in particular is clearly visible, as are those playing it, and we will be scrutinised very closely. There is a risk of reputational damage to the Club and we do not wish to lose the goodwill of the local community. Please be patient and for those of you able to resume on Monday, enjoy a safe return to golf. With Kind Regards, Bill & Paula McCallion Captain & Lady Captain Comments are closed.
