Golfer of the Year has managed to survive Covid-19. The final 2 rounds will be contested on 6th December and 13th December. Things are tight at the top so it should make for exciting finale to a less than exciting year!
Dear Member
We were shocked and saddened to learn last night of the death of Tom Hunter. Tom has been a member of the club for many years. Both he and his wife Shiela were regular visitors to Dunfanaghy as they had a house on the Horn Head road near to the GAA pitch. This morning our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Shiela, and family. Tom had a quiet unassuming nature and was always interested in how the club was going. A service of thanksgiving will be held tomorrow Saturday in Waringstown Presbyterian Church followed by committal in the adjoining Burying Ground. Due to current restrictions the service will be strictly private. The service can be viewed on www.ronnierussellfunerals.com. May he rest in peace. Dear Members
As Chair of the Club’s Management Committee, I would like to update you on our plans for this year’s AGM. The Club’s Constitution mandates that a General Meeting is held annually within 90 days of the end of the financial year (year end 31/10/2020). The essential elements of the AGM are: 1. to receive the Honorary Treasurer’s report and discuss the Club’s financial statement. 2. to elect officers and members of the Management Committee for 2021. 3. to set the annual subscriptions for 2021. 2020 has been an extraordinary and challenging year and it will be obvious to all that we will not be able to gather for a meeting as we have done in the past. Having taken advice from Golf Ireland and the Confederation of Golf in Ireland, the Management Committee has decided that this year’s AGM will be conducted using “Zoom”. Furthermore, we are satisfied that a “Zoom” AGM is constitutional as it fulfils the Government’s Civil and Criminal Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2020 whereby "the members participating in the meeting are not all in the one place, but each member is able, directly or by means of electronic communications technology, to speak to, and to be heard by, each of the other members”. Whilst most club members will be familiar with Zoom, we are aware that some will not and may be apprehensive about the technology. We would like to reassure you that Zoom is easy to use - indeed if you have the IT skills to open this email, you can use Zoom. This year’s Zoom AGM will be run in accordance with the Club’s Constitution and will require a quorum of at least 25 participants. The meeting will be open to ALL full members of the club (referred to in the constitution as “ordinary” members) irrespective of gender. Participants will be able to vote on motions as they would have done in the past, however, in keeping with our Constitution, voting by proxy is not permitted. Any ordinary member can submit a motion (proposed and seconded) to the AGM for discussion. However, in the context of a Zoom AGM we would respectfully request that motions other than those listed above are restricted to urgent business only. It is our intention to hold an EGM during 2021 when Covid-19 restrictions permit. This will allow us to discuss motions in person rather than relying on technology. The date for the Zoom AGM will be Friday 18th December at 8pm. Honorary Secretary Pat O’Neill will be emailing full members in the coming week or so with a formal notification and log-in details for Zoom. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible remotely on 18th. with kind regards Bill McCallion Captain |
