We finally concluded the 2020 Paul McGinley Cup competition last week. The final was contested between James T Sweeney and James Marriott and the 2 players were inseparable after 18 holes which they both played in level par. It took a birdie on the 2nd play-off hole by James T to finally win a competition that took over 13 months to complete.

Congratulations to James T on retaining the Paul McGinley Cup and commiserations to James Marriott who on any other day would have romped home. The fact that they were level par after 18 holes is a testament to their skill, competitive spirit, condition of the course and to the fine coaching they have enjoyed.

​Dear Member,
The death has occured at the Cornfield Care Centre, Derry of Roland Watson. Roland and his late wife Margaret were members at the club for years. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad time.
A private family funeral will take place in Adair and Neely Funeral Home at 2pm on Thursday 8th July followed by burial in Ballyloan Cemetery. May he rest in peace.

New Members' Scramble

On Friday evening past, Captain Bill and Lady Captain Paula hosted the New Members' Scramble which was played over 14 holes. The purpose of this event was to both thank and welcome new members into Dunfanaghy Golf Club. It was also an opportunity for both existing and newcomers to get to know each other and build up friendships which will hopefully last for many years to come. 

There were 7 teams, each was lead by an existing member and it was Mary Lafferty's team that ultimately won with a cracking score of 40 points (12 under). Mary was ably assisted by James McMullan, Jon Bond and Shaun Doherty. After the Scramble all players enjoyed a fine burger and fries from our caterers One N One.
