Dunfanaghy's own Darcy Hogg has claimed the 2019 Ulster U14 Open Championship in dramatic style.

90 Boys featured in the field at the Ulster U14 Open Championship hosted by Lurgan Golf Club, home to one of the GUI Ulster Branch regional centres.   

At the close of play Darcy was level with Lucas Lyons (Limerick) and the two players set off for a three hole play off.  With all to play for coming down 18 Lucas took the upper hand with an eagle putt, but Darcy held his nerve and made birdie to send the two boys to sudden death.  

Both Boys put their tee shots in the bunkers but Darcy was to be the successor getting up and down for a 3 to secure the Win.

A great display of Golf by both Boys played in a great spirit.

Congratulations to Darcy from everyone at Dunfanaghy Golf Club. We are sure it is the first of many titles!

​Dear Members 
      On behalf of Lady Captain Robyn and myself, we would like to thank all members who supported our very popular Pro-Am last weekend. We had 49 teams with Professionals and competitors from all over Ireland...a great profiling for our Club and for for all of the Dunfanaghy area.
It was especially pleasing that one of our own teams won the competition! Ably led by our esteemed treasurer Jim and supported by his brother Patrick,  Johnny McClintock and Pro Ciaran Molloy they amassed a mighty score of 183 points!! ( I'm reliably informed this score was only achieved because of their pre tournament preparation and Jim's eagle at the 18th.!!)
Special thanks must go to Mary and her team for all their preparatory work and ensuring that the weekend ran smoothly. 
There was nothing but praise for Sarah and the kitchen and bar staff...two very long days!!
Once again Paul Mcginley and his team presented a magnificent golf course! From the course being parched and burnt a few weeks ago to inclement weather right up to the weekend, they did an amazing job !!

Dunfanaghy Golf Club Pro-Am 2019

The PGA rolled into town at the weekend for Dunfanaghy Golf Club Pro-Am.  This ever popular tournament was contested over 2 days in glorious sunshine.
Despite the breezy conditions the professionals returned some very impressive scores. Coming out on top, Colm Moriarty scored 63 on day one and 64 on day two to finish 9 under par with Brian McElhinney leading after day one with a scorching 62 followed by a 66 on day two to finish 8 under par, a single shot behind the winner.
The team event was just as tight at the top with a single point separating the top two places
