Caravanners' Classic - Saturday 24th August 2019
Gillian Robinson and Denis Martin have agreed to manage the event and are hoping others will assist in making this another success. The format will change from recent years to a more traditional end of season ‘fun-day’, rather than primarily a fund raiser. We hope the membership will contribute generously to the sponsorship of all the Ladies and Gents tees. Remember, not just individuals, but groups can sponsor a tee, for €50. We hope that local businesses etc can take a breather from their generous support over the years. The profit will go to a specific course improvement initiative and a contribution to a local charity, which will also be supported by the Friday night quiz and the putting competition. The entry fee will be €20, which will include a €5 voucher towards a caravanners' bar menu. The format will be a team of 4 of any combination, with 2 best scores at holes 1-8 and 10-17, and 3 best scores at 9 and 18. This will allow for a 3 ball to have a reasonable chance of success. We would hope to see all prize winners attending the 9.30pm presentation and Bill McCallion has kindly agreed to provide the in-house entertainment. Many details have yet to be finalised, but more information will arrive by email, web-site etc. Denis and Gillian Gents Open Stableford

Particular credit to James who fought back from 3 down with 4 to play to gain a half match on 18. Well done boys!
It was nip and tuck all the way this morning in the Ulster vs Munster match, with Luke Kelly sealing a dramatic victory with a birdie on 18 to win 1up. Luke was 1 down with 2 to play winning 17 and then hitting tremendous iron into 15ft on 18. He went on to sink the putt for birdie and seal the win to help Ulster clinch a hard fought 3-2 victory. Well done Luke and best of luck for this afternoon.
Dunfanaghy Pairing Win in Afternoon Session at Interpro’s
The pairing of James T Sweeney and Darcy Hogg in this afternoons Foursomes proved too strong for the Connacht pairing, winning 2&1. This strong partnership helped Ulster to a clean sweep over Connacht and capped a great day for the Dunfanaghy lads. Ulster go into tomorrow’s final day with a strong overall lead in the Interpro’s. Well done lads! The Irish Interprovincial Championship started in windy, but beautiful conditions at Athlone Golf Club.
Dunfanaghy boys James T Sweeney and Darcy Hogg were out early in U14 singles matches against a strong Leinster team, with a win for Darcy and loss for James to help Ulster to an overall 3-2 win. They are both playing together as foursome this afternoon against Connacht. Best of luck to both boys. The U16 Championship starts on Wednesday morning with our other Dunfanaghy member, Luke Kelly, in action. All results available via live scoring on Golfnet. Open Week is almost upon us once again. We have 11 days of open competitions with something for everyone starting on Thursday 25th July and continuing daily until Sunday 4th August. Come along and enjoy the course at its very best.
A big thank you to all our sponsors including the AIB and the Chambers family for sponsoring the Ladies' competitions, Moores Holiday Homes, Phone Watch and Letterkenny Driving Range. Without the generous support of these sponsors our Open Week would not be possible. The full timetable can be viewed below so get your clubs out and your golf shoes on! Gents Club Stableford
