On a blustery, difficult day for golf at Letterkenny the pairings of Luke Kelly and Darcy Hogg, Conor Hanna and James T Sweeney, and Carlos O’Reilly and Tom McClintock produced some great golf to beat a talented Gweedore team. The individual games ebbed and flowed, with no clear outcomes guaranteed until the latter stages giving team captain Paul a few nervous moments! The matchplay experience that the boys have gained over the past few seasons proved vital as they closed strongly to overcome the spirited Gweedore team and bring the County Championship back to Dunfanaghy.
The players, and both clubs, can be incredibly proud of how well they represented themselves and of the sportsmanship on display. Well done to all the boys! Charlie Robinson Cup (Golfer of the Year) Stableford

Your chance to ask the CEOs about Golf Ireland proposal As you will be aware, information briefings are being held over the coming weeks on the proposal for a single governing body for golf in Ireland. To ensure that as many questions as possible are answered and to ensure that everyone has a chance to learn about Golf Ireland and how it will benefit clubs and the sport generally, the CEO of the GUI, Pat Finn and the ILGU’s CEO Sinead Heraty will join me for a special podcast episode next month. I will put to them questions submitted on social media and email. This is your chance, and your member's opportunity to put your questions forward for inclusion in the podcast. The proposal can be read in full at http://www.onegoverningbody.com Please email your questions to [email protected] before Friday 28th September. We will attempt to get through as many questions as possible. The podcast will be released in early October. Kind regards Alan Kelly GUI Communications Manager Gent's Club Single Stableford

The standard of golf played was of the highest level, with many holes being halved in birdies. Ultimately the Portrush team had more strength in depth and a little more experience, which saw them through.
We can be very proud of how well the boys played, and how well they represented our club. The future is bright. A great weekend was had and it was a wonderful experience for our young team. Many thanks to the host club Holywood who were incredibly hospitable and made us feel very at home. Also many thanks to the parents and spectators who travelled down to watch. Hopefully we will be back on this stage next year. Summer is officially over here at Dunfanaghy Golf Club meaning only one thing, it's Jazz and Blues weekend. This year's festivities at the golf club kick off with Lady Captain's Pink Day on Friday in aid of Breast Cancer Charities with some fabulous prizes and raffle prizes available on the day. This promises to be a fun day for all. Times are still available on time sheet so don't hesitate to call the clubhouse and come down and enjoy a great day for a great cause.
Music will kick off on Friday night in the clubhouse from 6pm -8pm with Mark Rice Saturday, we are hosting Espresso Jazz between 4.30pm and 6.30pm And finally on Sunday we have the Men in Black from 1pm to 3pm Looking forward to another successful weekend at the club and seeing you all over the weekend.
