Dear Members,
We hope that everyone remains safe and well during the current Covid restrictions. As many of you will be aware, the lockdown in Northern Ireland has been extended until early March and given the prevalence of disease and the enormous pressure that health services are facing across the island, it is likely that restrictions throughout Ireland will be extended. Given the obvious health benefits of getting regular exercise and the fact that the risk of contracting Covid-19 on the golf course is remote, we share your frustrations that we can’t access the links. Our golfing unions have been lobbying Government but to no avail. Despite the closure, works continues both on and off the course. Paul and his staff continue to make improvements to the course whilst office staff and committee members are working behind the scenes with grant applications etc. To date we have held back on issuing subscription invoices for the coming year. However many of the running costs continue despite the current lockdown. Indeed the annual “subs” meet only 40% of the Club’s annual expenditure. To that end, we will be issuing the 2021 subscription invoices soon. The social levy will not be charged this year (although members can still put money on their Smart cards as before and receive discount in the shop and bar when we reopen). Therefore to meet our necessary ongoing costs we would urge you to pay your subscriptions as soon as possible. If you would like to pay by electronic banking, then you can do so using the bank details in the email you will have received. Please advise the club by email when you have made the payment so that you can be issued with a payment receipt. To quote Aristotle: “patience is bitter but its fruit is sweet” so please hang in there and we look forward to seeing you all in Dunfanaghy soon.
