Captain Raymond Shields' Big Day was held on Saturday 12th August. The 18-Hole competition saw a great turn out with 150 golfers taking part. It was all to play for after 18 holes with respectable scores of 66 to 69 qualifying for the 9 hole shoot out. The weather was no friend to the 12 qualifiers as persistent rain made scoring very difficult. The weather didn't deter young James Marriot, the plus one golfer shot an incredible 3 under par over the 9 holes however it wasn't enough to catch the impressive Peter O'Sullivan who claimed the major prize by 1.5 strokes. Big thanks to all the people who made Captain's Day the success it was; Cathy & Leanne for the wonderful food. Mary, James, Lucas & Connor in the office, shop & bar. The Greenkeepers for keeping the course in such fabulous condition. Brian & Siobhan who kept everyone entertained into the wee small hours, Nigel Doherty who took some great photos (see below). And, last but by no means least, the man himself, Captain Raymond Shields for the great day, the classic speech & the wonderful prizes.
