24 for 24 Challenge Successfully Completed

​Our 24 For 24 Charity Event was a great success over the past weekend (Fri 23rd/Sat 24th June 2023); 32 brave golfers took to the course to attempt to play golf for 24hrs - each one of them trying to play 5 18-hole rounds of golf with a short break between each round. Through the day & into the night they all played & 10am on Saturday morning 31 of them successfully completed the challenge. Amazing!!! The event’s aim was to raise as much money as we could for the Creeslough Disaster Fund, the Alzheimer's Society of Ireland & the Irish Society for Autism & so far we have raised almost €21,000 on our GoFundMe page & over €9,000 from other sponsorship, raffles & the Classic on Saturday 24th June. There are so many people to thank for helping make this event the success it was; President Tony McGilloway for having the idea & seeing it through to the end; the Management Committee, Captain Raymond Shields & Lady Captain Siobhan Bogues for their support in organising; Mary Lafferty for her support with all manner of logistics; the caterers & bar staff who kept the participants fed & watered through the 24hrs; the main sponsors of the event Mc Ginley Motors, The Kilmac Group, Smiley Munroe and Paddy Farry plus all those who sponsored Tee Boxes for the Classic; everyone who donated money & time; and off course the 32 who were brave enough to give it a try. We’re pretty sure no one has succeeded in doing this challenge before - though some have tried - so well done to you all.
