24 Golfers Playing For 24 Hours
You may have heard the buzz about the Charity Event taking place on Friday 23rd & Saturday 24th June 2023. The challenge for 32 of Dunfanaghy Golf Club members is to play golf for 24hrs starting at 10am 23rd June & finishing at 10am 24th June with the aim of getting at least 24 finishers to raise money for 3 very worthwhile charities, the Creeslough Disaster Fund, the Alzheimer's Society of Ireland & the Irish Society for Autism. The GoFundMe page is open for donations so please click gofund.me/f2debdb1 to make a donation & share the link with as many people as you can so we can raise as much as possible for these charities. Watch out for updates over the coming weeks as the big event approaches. On Sunday Dunfanaghy's young guns found themselves up against a very strong Ballyliffin team.
Danny mcColgan & Niall Moore put in great performances at home but the single figures Ballyliffen boys lifted both points. Away in Ballyliffin James Sweeney won his match, Lucas Wood & Conor mcColgan were very unlucky to lose their respective matches. Best of luck to the Ballyliffin team in the next round and thanks for their hospitality and the great spirit that all matches were played in. Home win for Bill Mc Callion and Fergal Callan on the 21st hole and an away win for Dunleavy and David Tease on the 14th was not enough to see Dunfanaghy into the second round of the Jimmy Bruen competition.
Graham Cummings and Mal Johnson, Oisin Langan and John Mc Nulty, Keelan Mc Gee and James McMullen were all very unlucky to be beat in their respective matches in the final stretch. Thanks to all at Castlerock golf club for their hospitality and the spirit in which all games were played. |
