Gaelteacht Alliance Frank Kelly's team visited Cruit Island on Saturday. In a very tight match they came away with 2 and a half matches to 7 and a half. Bad scheduling depleted his squad yet again however the team did not go down without a fight. Jim Carey and Michael Kelly had a good win as too did Brendan Kelly and James Doherty. John McGinley and Cathal McMonagle claimed a half match and Neil McGinley performed heroically taking his opponents to the sixteenth on his own without a partner. All the other games ended with narrow defeats so it wasn't as bad as the scoreline suggests. Next match is on the 9th Feb away to Portnoo with maybe the Clochaneely game which was cancelled some time in January depending on the weather. 17th
November Home to Portsalon
17th Nov At Home To Portsalon golf Club The first match of the year ended in defeat by 4 and a half to 5 and a half to Portsalon on a very wet day in Dunfanaghy. Heavy showers and the loss of some key players didn’t help a disappointed captain, Frank Kelly or the team. The only ray of sunshine on the day was the incredible form of Daniel Devine and playing partner Dermot Shields who had a fantastic best score of the day of 44pts. Hopefully the team can re-group and start getting some good results in this popular winter competition.
